Flint’s own Michael Moore weighs in on the Flint Water Scandal!
Now that Flint Michigan has caught the nation’s eye, celebs are jumping in to lend support. Cher has donated more than 180,000 bottles of water, stating, “This is a tragedy of staggering proportion and shocking that it’s happening in the middle of our country.”
And on January 16th Michael Moore showed up at city hall, calling it a “crime scene” and calling for the arrest of Governor Rick Snyder. “This is not a mistake. Ten people have been killed here because of a political decision.” Moore also said that President Obama should come to Flint Wednesday while visiting Detroit. “There are people who are very angry here, because their lives are at risk. They should be angry. We are all angry.”
Flint pediatrician Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha, wants all of the city’s over 9000 children under 6 treated as if they are exposed.
Throughout our lives we are forced to do many things that we’d rather not. Drinking contaminated water should never be one of them, just as cost and quality of life should never be uttered in the same sentence.
Do any of us really think the governor is drinking anything but the best bottled water? We’re willing to bet he hasn’t tasted Michigan’s tap water in the last decade.
It wasn’t that long ago when the government pointed fingers at the Chinese for exporting products that were found to have lead in the paint.
Where is that government when its citizens are forced to drink water with lead in it? Sure, they hold press conferences and issue warnings, but how many of our poor can afford to buy the amount of bottled water it would take to sustain a family for God knows how long while politicians debate the issue?
